Rondo gets shot at US National Team

July 19th, 2010 admin No comments

Boston fans are all over the world. Sarah Lee Marks, former Bostonian and current Vegasian (I have NO IDEA what Las Vegas dwellers call themselves, but that just sounds weird), is excited to announce that Rondo is coming to town. As someone who lives in a sports city that’s known to be pretty lacking in sports culture, the USA Basketball Team’s arrival is a pretty big deal. However, not as big of a deal as Rondo, fighting for a spot. We all know he deserves it, just as much as he deserved that MVP this year, had those damn Lakers not won. (Yep, still not over it. Are you?)
Read her post here, (http://www.mycarlady.com/2010/07/18/celtics-rondo-to-las-vegas-for-team-usa/) and stay tuned for more coverage of training camp and possible photos.

Cavs get Rondo’d, series tied

Wow! What else can you say about Rajon Rondo’s performance in game 4 of the second round series between the Celtics and Cavaliers.  Rondo was magnificent, putting together an unbelievable triple double stat line of 29 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists.  He was the best player on the court and it wasn’t even close.  And that of course includes the reigning MVP of the league LeBron James.
What makes the performance even more impressive is that it not only came in the playoffs against a Cavs team that had the best record in the NBA, but it was essentially a must win game for the Celtics.  They could not afford to go down 3-1 in the series with game 5 in Cleveland.  The Celtics had to have game 4, and Rondo willed them to victory.  On a day when Paul Pierce scored only 7 points, Rondo more than carried the load offensively.
The Cavs cannot keep Rondo out of the paint.  They have no answer for the speedy point guard, and unless they find a better way to keep from getting into the lane, the Celtics have a great shot to pull of the upset in [...]

Celtics drop three in a row to good teams. Is it time to worry?

Ouch.  What else can you say after watching the Celtics fail their three game test against three of the best teams in the NBA.  The Celts lost to the Magic, Hawks and Lakers in a span of four days.  Last week I wrote about the 5 questions the Celtics must answer in the second half of the season.  If these three games are an indication of how they are going to be answered, it’s not going to be a fun ride for Celtics fans.
On Thursday night in Orlando the Celtics were great for three quarters.  They led by 16 at one point before giving it all away in the 4th Quarter as they lost by 2.  The Celtics flat out ran out of steam.   A similar thing happened Sunday against the Lakers.  After a bad 1st Quarter the Celtics took a 5 point lead into halftime and led by 11 in the 4th Quarter.  But the Lakers hung around and stole this game from the Celtics.
Friday night was a little different as the Hawks were in control for most of the night.  Boston jumped out early but Atlanta ended the 1st Quarter up [...]

Heard a lot about Tiger Woods  lately?  Yes.
How about the Patriots and Randy Moss possibly not giving it his all on the field? Yup.
Seen a lot of news about the Red Sox and their new acquisitions?  Indeed I have.
What about the Celtics and there 11 game winning streak?  Come again?
Thought so.  While Boston fans and the media are looking elsewhere, the Celtics are rolling through December.  After winning their final 4 games in November, Boston had won their first 7 in December.  During the 11 game winning streak, 8 have come on the road, a remarkable accomplishment for any NBA team.
The Celtics are showing their veteran toughness and poise during this streak.  They are also showing great scoring balance.  It might be time to start talking about  a “Big 4” instead of just the “Big 3.”  Rajon Rondo has been terrific, averaging just over 10 assists during the streak.  He’s also been the high scorer twice during the 11 game run.  Meanwhile, Kevin Garnett has been the high scorer 4 times, Paul Pierce 3, and Ray Allen twice.  These four players are carrying and sharing the offensive load.
The Celts are winning in different ways.  They’ve [...]
