Heard Over the Talkie

What’s the talkie saying about Boston sports today?

Celtics still injured. Dock Rivers said that KG will still be out for the next 10-14 days, but more likely ten, due to not being able to keep Garnett still. KG got kicked twice last month causing his repaired knee to hyperextend. Apparently it was almost impossible to get Garnett to stop physical activity entirely (love the dedication) but the rest has done him good and he should hopefully come back strong.

Replacing KG was Rasheed Wallace, now also hurt. Wallace sat out Monday with a hurt foot and could be out for up to a week. So, now replacing him is Brian Scalabine. The fantastic four are down to a Trying Two. The Celts are 3-4 since KG’s injury but sit at a respectable third place in the league behind LA and Cleveland. Let’s hope they get healthy fast. They play the Nets tonight.

Pat’s Draft Picks. The only good thing about the Patriots losing to the Ravens is that they get a better first-round draft pick. They will now pick 22nd. They also have three second-round picks. Hopefully Belichick takes full advantage of this, because we could sure use some new blood.

World Cup to Boston. Boston is one of 18 cities in the U.S. included in America’s bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022. Nine other countries are also bidding, but the U.S. is seen as a favorite for 2022. We won’t find out until December 2, but hopefully Gillette will get to host some games just like in 1994.

Eagles face one of the best. Tonight is a true test for the BC Eagles (10-6) who face No.7 notorious Duke Blue Devils (13-2), at Duke, where they have never won. Both teams are 1-1 in the ACC, so this could be a defining game. The Blue Devils knocked BC out of the ACC quarterfinals last year, edging them by one point.
