In an Absolut world…Boston has their own vodka.
By: Jess Lander, YawkeyTalkies editor.
For those fans that haven’t heard, Boston now has their very own vodka. After all those Championships we’ve had in the recent years, I’d say we deserve it. And hopefully, with more to come, we’ll now have our very own alcohol to celebrate with.
And just in case they don’t come, it’ll be there to consol us ’til next year, right?
We love our dirty water, and now the rest of the world will too. Absolut has come out with now three special edition vodka’s in tribute to the USA’s “most distinguished cities.” And while in an absolute world, we would have been the first, (Boston comes after New Orleans, and Los Angeles) guess who doesn’t have one yet? NEW YORK. So, take that, Yankees. You may have the AL, but wheres your special edition vodka?
The bottle resembles our Green Monster, with a green wall backdrop. The words on the bottle read:
“In a city rich with monuments commemorating a nation, the one monument that stands above all others is a dented green wall, 37 feet tall, 240 feet long, and some 310 feet from home plate down the left-field line.”
And while it doesn’t taste like a Fenway Frank (unless you drink enough to chuck up the one you had in the first inning), it is infused with black tea (like the Tea Party, clever, I know) and elderflower.
I went out and bought the special edition bottle myself this weekend, and found it surprisingly good.
You can even feel good about drinking it, because proceeds go to the Charles River Conservancy charity.
Here’s a few appropriately named cocktail recipes from the bottle’s Facebook Page:
ABSOLUT® BOSTON HOMERUN
1 part ABSOLUT BOSTON
2 parts white grape juice
Ginger ale
ABSOLUT® BOSTON TEA PARTY MARTINI
3 parts ABSOLUT BOSTON
2 parts lemon juice
1 part simple syrup
ABSOLUT® BOSTON GREEN WALL
1‑1/2 parts ABSOLUT BOSTON
1/2 part Midori®
Splash of sour mix
